Taijiquan, a martial art, is taught in the traditional style at the Taoist Sanctuary. In your first term, you will learn the first section of the Laojia yi lu, the original form from which all other taiji styles arose. Attention is paid to posture, alignment and relaxation. You will learn to move your body in a more coordinated way, while also strengthening your lower body and gaining flexibility. In subsequent terms, you will continue instruction in the Laojia yilu, learning moves that will challenge your balance and stability. You will finish the form in 3 terms, and can then progress to more advanced training, including weapons and push hands.
Qi Gong and Taoist Meditation classes offer instruction in multiple health exercises that will calm the mind, relax the body, strengthen and nourish the organs, and combat the effects of stress and aging.
