Broadsword

Chen Style Dao (broadsword/saber) form is a short dynamic form characterized by explosive leaping and twisting. The broadsword is single edged and heavy, requiring large powerful movements. It is traditionally associated with the tiger because of its powerful movements. The broadsword often coils closely around the body to deflect an opponent’s strike. The broadsword develops power and coordination. As with all weapons forms, some level of competence in the empty hand forms should be achieved before attempting the broadsword form.
