Energy Balancing Exercise
Three Dan Tian Balancing
- Check the upper, middle and lower dan tians.
- Balance each dan tian. Use clockwise circles and pushing/pulling motions directly over the dan tians.
- Tonify, disperse or harmonize the Ren channel.
- tonification – lift and pull the qi from the lower dan tian to the upper dan tian.
- dispersion – pull the qi down from the upper dan tian to the lower dan tian.
- harmonization – lift and pull the qi up and down the Ren channel from the lower dan tian to the upper dan tian and back down to the lower dan tian.
- Check all three dan tians
Balancing the Ren and Du Channels
- Begin with clockwise circles at the base of the spine and sacrum at Du 3.
- Instruct the person to inhale. As the person inhales, lift and pull the qi up the spine to Du 20 at the top of the head.
- Instruct the person to exhale. As the person exhales, pull the qi down the Ren channel to the lower dan tian.
- Repeat until both channels are activated and the person reports qi sensations in the channels.
- Check the upper, middle and lower dan tians.
Balancing the Arm and Leg Channels
- Begin with clockwise circles at the area of Lu 2.
- Pull the qi down the inside of the arm and up the outside of the arm to GB 21. Repeat until the person reports qi sensation throughout the arm.
- Begin with a clockwise circle at the area of GB 29.
- Pull the qi down the outside of the leg and up the inside to the area of St. 30. Repeat until the person reports qi sensation throughout the leg.
- Arms – down the inside, up the outside.
- Legs – down the outside, up the inside.
Balancing the Du Channel from a prone position
- Check the area of Du 20, 16, 14, 4 and 3.
- Use a clockwise circle followed by lifting and pulling at each of the points.
- Use the “sword finger” method to activate the qi at each point and to trace the entire Du channel.
- Tonify, disperse or harmonize the Du channel.
- Check the points.
Pain Relief Method
- Identify the area of pain. Identify the channel nearest to the area of pain.
- Use a clockwise circle directly over the area of pain and then pull the qi down the nearest channel to the end of the nearest extremity.
- Following the dissipation of the pain sensation, balance the extremities of that area.
- For pain in the upper body, use the arms.
- For pain in the lower body, use the legs.
