Taijiquan Spear form is a high level weapons form. It is associated with the Dragon because of its long body and powerful extensions and twisting movements. This form develops great agility and flexibility with an emphasis on quick stepping and turning while manipulating the spear. The Chen style spear form is a combination of spear techniques and staff techniques, which differ in their application. The traditional spear movements feature thrusting and piercing movements while the staff movements are more circular attacks, hitting with either end of the shaft. This lengthy form is performed quickly with many explosive movements. There are also two person sequences based on sections of the form. The name of the form, "li hua qiang bai yuan bang" translates as "Pear Blossom Spear, White Ape Staff".
