Grandmaster Chen Xiaowang

Inheritor of Chen family Taijiquan

 

Grandmaster Chen Xiaowang is the son of Chen Zhaoxu, the 19th generation Standard Bearer of his family's style of Taijiquan, and holds the highest honor of 9th Duan Wei awarded by the Chinese Wushu Association. He was born in 1945 in Chenjiagou, Henan, China, and began studying Taijiquan at the age of 7. Grandmaster ChenXiaowang has received numerous honors for his Taijiquan prowess, and is also a noted calligrapher and scholar. His gentle manner and clear and concise teaching style has earned him the reputation as one of the best Taijiquan instructors in the world. His stunning demonstrations of his family's martial art give him claim to being the best Taijiquan practitioner in the world. He is considered a living treasure. His goal is to transmit his love of Taijiquan to students everywhere, and he has gathered a loyal and enthusiastic following worldwide.

Grandmaster Chen conducts seminars at the Sanctuary once a year, and his brother Grandmaster Chen Xiaoxing, nephews Master Chen Bing and Master Chen Ziqiang, and Master Ren Guangyi also come to San Diego to conduct seminars. Grandmaster Chen also holds yearly seminars in his ancestral home of Chenjiagou, Henan, China, and often combines these seminars with a traditional disciple ceremony, taking new disciples into his family to help spread his family's art.
