Taijiquan in China

Chen Wangting

Traveling to China is the opportunity of a lifetime! Study in Chen Village, the birthplace of Taijiquan. Members of the Chen family still live here and teach as they have for generations. Grandmaster Chen Xiaoxing is the Head of the Village and the Chen Family Taijiquan School. His son, Master Chen Ziqiang, is the Head Teacher at the school and teaches the entire curriculum of the Chen family Taijiquan system. You will study and practice up to 6 hours daily, mixing with the live-in students of the school and other visiting students who come here for the instruction. Meals will be served in the school cafeteria, prepared for you by the live-in students. This is truly a roots experience for the person interested in studying Taijiquan at the Source!

Trips sponsored by the Taoist Sanctuary may offer time in other popular destinations, including Beijing, Xi'an and Shanghai. In Beijing, you may visit the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, and prowl the old marketplaces for bargains. A trip to Xi'an may include a tour of the site of the Terracotta Warriors, and a day's trip to the Louguantai Monastery, one of the oldest working monasteries in China. A stop in Shanghai may include time on the Bund, the famous riverbank with stunning views of the city.
